About HPSRC
Safe Access. Strong Trails. Better Riding.
OUR MISSION
To Protect. To Enhance. To Maintain.
HPSRC exists to Protect, Enhance, and Maintain Hatcher Pass winter trail corridors by:
- Providing professional grooming that supports safe, multi-use winter access.
- Partnering with state agencies to align recreation with responsible stewardship.
- Delivering dependable trail conditions for riders, skiers, walkers, fat-bikers, and emergency services.
Our History
Hatcher Pass Snow Riders Club (HPSRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2015 and dedicated to supporting safe, reliable winter recreation within the Hatcher Pass Management Area. Working alongside public agencies and community partners, HPSRC leads coordinated winter trail grooming and long-term stewardship across one of Southcentral Alaska’s most heavily used recreation corridors.
Following the 2019–2020 season, Alaska State Parks ended direct winter trail grooming operations in the Hatcher Pass Management Area. To prevent the loss of access and deterioration of critical winter corridors, HPSRC assumed responsibility for grooming operations and ongoing trail stewardship.
Today, our program is sustained through community donations, grant funding, and strategic partnerships — allowing us to maintain safe, professionally groomed trails for riders of all ages and experience levels while promoting responsible, shared winter recreation.

Goals & Values
HPSRC is committed to responsible, sustainable winter access in the Hatcher Pass Management Area. We believe well-managed trails are essential to safe recreation, shared use, and long-term public access—helping preserve this iconic landscape for years to come.
Grooming & Stewardship
HPSRC coordinates winter trail grooming and access in partnership with Alaska Department of Transportation, Alaska Department of Natural Resources, and local stakeholders. Through consistent operations and active trail stewardship, we help maintain connected winter corridors that support safe, shared access across Hatcher Pass’s complex alpine landscape.
HPSRC serves as a trusted local partner within the Hatcher Pass Management Area, providing continuity, local knowledge, and a consistent presence to support responsible winter access and long-term stewardship.
Community Programs
How Your Support Makes an Impact: Becoming a Community Sponsor directly fuels the high-cost operations required to groom complex alpine terrain. Your contributions provide the equipment maintenance and fuel necessary to keep Hatcher Pass reliable and safe during the peak winter months.
Beyond just the machinery, your support ensures long-term sustainability for the program. By serving thousands of riders, skiers, and families each season, these sponsorships allow us to plan for future equipment needs and maintain the operational efficiency required to keep one of Alaska’s most heavily used recreation corridors open and accessible for everyone.
